Clean Your Washing Machine: A DIY Guide
Clean your washing machine? Maybe you will feel strange if you hear that. Washing machines are used by people to clean their clothes. Indirectly, it means that your washing machine also cleans itself, according to your view and many people. But apparently, the view is wrong. Washing machines, which are often used or not, turned out to be very dirty, storing a lot of fungi, bacteria, and produce an unpleasant odor. Now, try to see inside your washing machine? Are you sure it’s clean? Are you sure you don’t smell bad? Now it’s time you have to clean it.
What materials are needed?
But, you don’t have to worry. You can clean your washing machine easily and quickly. All you need is ingredients such as white vinegar and baking soda. You need not be surprised. White vinegar and baking soda have a function not only for cooking. White vinegar is known for its disinfecting function, while baking soda is known for its powerful cleaning function. No need to use professional services or expensive materials. And this method can be done both for washing machines with top-load models and with front-load models.
How to do it?
All you need first is white vinegar and baking soda. Both of these ingredients can be found easily in the market. The first step is to use hot water that is poured into the washer. If your washing machine has a water temperature setting, just set it to a high temperature. If your washing machine doesn’t have a water temperature setting feature, you can make your hot water. And make sure to fill the water to the highest volume capacity.
After that, put white vinegar and baking soda into the hot water. The dose used is around 950 ml (4 cups) for white vinegar and 237 ml (1 cup) of baking soda. For washing machines with front-load models, you can pour these ingredients in a bleach dispenser. After that, set washing time for the longest time. For top-load washing machines, let the machine run for 5 minutes then stop (by opening the lid, or setting it to wash time for the first 5 minutes), then leave it for 1 hour. After one hour, close the lid again, and then let the machine go back to work. Or set it back to spin or wash for the longest time (if your washing machine doesn’t have an automatic feature). When finished, you can drain the washing water until it is left over, then wipe with a clean cloth. You can repeat this step if it feels dirty or smelly.
In addition to cleaning the inside of the washing machine, a clean appearance must also be seen on the front or body of the washing machine. You can use a spray-type glass cleaner with citrus ingredients to clean your washing machine‘s body. This makes your washing machine look new all the time. So, are you ready to clean your washing machine?
